Henry Alexander

Henry Alexander is a composer, arranger, singer, and multi-instrumentalist studying music composition with Kenji Bunch at Portland State University, where he is also a member of the PSU Chamber Choir. His choral work "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" was premiered by that ensemble at the 2022 NW American Choral Directors Association conference, performed at the 2022 IFCM New World Choral Expo in Lisbon, and workshopped by the Grammy Award®-winning group Chanticleer. Henry's instrumental chamber works have been performed by the Arcadia String Quartet, Porchello cello trio, and workshopped by contemporary music trailblazers Hub New Music. His work was also featured at the Pentatonia piano composition challenge in 2023. Most recently, Henry arranged singer-songwriter Jimmie Herrod's original song "Mouche" for full orchestra in a special collaboration between the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Mr. Herrod, and The Authentic Voice commissioning series, in partnership with Fear No Music's Young Composers Project.
