Music of Charles Ives and Peter Schickele

Charles Ives mixed ragtime tunes, military marches, Protestant hymns, African-American spirituals and college drinking songs to create his music -- an unruly democracy of styles where, in the end, it all makes sense. Peter Schickele, in his String Quartet "American Dreams," gives voice to his motto that "all musics are created equal."

A World Premiere by David Dzubay

The music of Portland native Dzubay has been performed internationally by over thirty orchestras. We present Dzubay's new work commissioned for Fear No Music in honor of the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial by the Continental Harmony Project. Also featured will be works by David Baker and other American composers.
